Cloudiness vs. Cold: The Debate Continues

What is harder to put up with - constant overcast or bone-chilling cold?

I always thought I could live in Seattle because, unlike Chicago, it didn't have the horrendously cold winters. It was pretty overcast, most of the time, I heard. But I figured I could deal with that. After living in St Andrews for two years (all of which have been non-summer months), I am beginning to rethink this. St Andrews doesn't get Chicago winters, but at its worst only has sunlight from about 10am-3:30pm. This gives me horrible headaches and generally makes me tired and grumpy. Even when the sun is up, it's not necessarily "out". As such, I am currently leaning towards a Chicago-based weather being better than a Seattle-based weather.

clouds are tiresome. I live under constant pollution, which is like clouds. it doesn't bother me to not see the sun as much as it does that I'm walking around in soot and grossness. so maybe it doesn't count.

and cold doesn't bother me right now. I just don't want hot. china's hot. Houston is hot. I hate hot. so cold sounds amazing.

I hate cold. Passed short sleeved lawn rakers on way to Sunday's soccer game. Felt sheepish in my ski jacket and long underwear, but the last laugh was on the rakers when the sun went down.
