what do youse guys think of the new Decemberists album, The Crane Wife? I, for one, am FOR it. The second track is 10 minutes long, which, I think, is like a big statement to all those skeptics after they signed with Capitol Records.
i'll be honest, hulk. though i've only listened to it once or twice, i'm not impressed. though i have to admit, i didn't like her majesty when it first came out. but except for maybe crane wife 1 & 2, nothing stands out to me at first. i'll have to keep trying, but so far, can you give me some guidance? i thought track two, though impressively long, was pretty lousy. any other suggested tracks to check out?
well, I too am a huge fan of The Crane Wife 2 & 3. Also O' Valencia is a good one, and I like the duet in Yankee Bayonette. When the War Came is unlike any Decemberists song before, with the du dum, da dum, da dum... beat, but I like the feel. Overall, I think that the songwriting skills are as good as they ever were, it's just a slightly new style.
