weird pile in garage

A 10" high pile of rubble, comprised of small rocks and dirt, has mysteriously accumulated alongside the interior garage east wall. Clearly critter created. But from where? On the exterior side of the wall a sidewalk abuts closely to the stucco. So even if chipmunks are burrowing, they'd have to go under the sidewalk. And, what? Carry debris with them? We had a new garage floor poured maybe 20 years ago. Rubble from underneath?

Such a mystery.
