so, as i've mentioned before, i've spent pretty much all day with two women from our guangzhou branch. they are very friendly, helpful people, and without them, i have no idea if i'd have been able to get my visa, etc. anyway, they don't speak a lot of english. in fact, it took nearly all day for me to learn they spoke any because the whole day was conducted in chinese. at dinner, we had a great time talking about this and that, stuff that gets lost in translation, and so forth. it was fun. at one point, carol said (in chinese) "if you didn't speak chinese, we couldn't communicate." this implies two things: can speak a little chinese, despite what daisy may saywe were actually communicating rock on.
