so this is the new year! the year of the cow. that's my year. and a lot of yours too. i hope you all have red underwear...

i've just had a great two days with daisy and her family. i'm not sure if my chinese has improved, or if daisy's parents' peter-dialect has, but we were chatting like we grew up together. it was great. they made me dumplings, and got me nice booze. it was a great time. last night we went out for dinner with her dad's side of the family — maybe 20 people or so, gathered around a big round table, eating delicious food. it was a blast. (except for when someone shattered my heart and said he thought the iPhone was "not a good mobile device" and i almost climbed across the table and shoved his "mobile phone" so far up his bottom* he could have used his stomach as a multi touch screen.)

then, tonight, i went to daisy's house and ate dinner with her mom's side. they made me feel so welcome; each of them made a bit of an effort to speak stupid-chinese with me so i could understand. and then i stuck around with daze and her folks and chatted about daisy's upcoming trip to the states.what a great weekend! and soon i'm going to the land of the rising sun! what a life i lead!
