artist of the week: bon iver

hulkamaniac recommended quite some time ago that i check out bon iver. in fact, i think i was in houston at the time. i downloaded it right away, as i can't remember the last bad recommendation he's given me, and i really dug it. mellow hipster singer/songwriter stuff (so wjerome, you may not like it). very pretty.

anyway, somehow, life happened, and the two albums i got, daytrotter session and for emma, forever ago, fell off my planet.

since i got my shuffle, i've been listening to all sorts of stuff i had forgotten about that, at one point, i gave a 4 star rating or higher (according to my rating system, 2-4 are within the realm of the artist, while 1 and 5 are universal. so a 2 star beatles song could whoop a 4 star dave matthews song. this makes shuffling all 4 and 5 stars interesting).

i was on a plane a few weeks ago (in fact, i think they should give me a mile high apartment, considering how much time i've spent on planes lately), and bon iver came up. and i remembered how great it is.

so check it out. i'd recommend daytrotter sessions, the ep, before checking out the full album, for emma, forever ago.
