Avalantern: Twitter vs Ellipses
24 January 2010, 6:13am

Alright. So I think it's safe to say that no one on Avalantern uses Twitter anymore. Likewise, no one uses ellipses anymore on Avalantern (nor do I), because there are too many tweets mucking it up. As I see it, there are two options here:

I can ditch the ellipses function all together. Or, likewise, I could just leave it as is, since no one uses it anyway. This means people who tweet can keep tweeting, and people who use avalantern to tweet could do so as well.

Or, I can stop retrieving tweets from Twitter and joining them to avalantern. This means that an ellipsis on Avalantern would have been posted on avalantern. (note: I'd keep the ability to post to twitter, because that doesn't really have anything to do with anything. And I like that function. And I like seeing "from avalantern" in Twitter timelines.)

So my question to you is this. Do I stop retrieving tweets from Twitter and make ellipses an Avalantern-only thing? Would you miss it?

And per saulemander's suggestion, I may change the name. Something like status or currently. Seems much clearer, despite the fact that I really like the name ellipsis, because it's like the stuff "in between" blogs.

Since I following everyone I want to read on Twitter, Ellipses are pretty redundant.

I think it would be nice to separate them completely.
