This morning, the elevator stopped at the fourth floor on my way downstairs.
Someone joined me on my way down — probably about 25 — and after saying an initial hello, we were silent. Being a gentleman, I let her off the elevator first, and as such, she was the first to go through the following door, and she held the door open for me. I said thanks in Chinese, and she responded quietly with "不客气", "you're welcome".
Anyway, as we walked outside, I noticed it was pouring rain and exclaimed, "ah! It's a big rain today!" She then asked me if I was taking a taxi, and after telling her I was waiting for a colleague, she offered to escort me out to the car under her umbrella.
Simple story, but such a great way to start the morning!
