Let me please get this straight, for once and for all. If you are one of the several people I work with who think that computers made by Apple come from some strange planet, and the user interface is completely unrecognizable, due solely to the fact that you've never used one, please see below.
A computer made by Apple, Inc, at this time, is called a Mac. This is short for Macintosh, which is a play on McIntosh, the kind of apple (fruit).
The "Media Access Control" Address, also known as a Hardware Address, is called the MAC address.
Please note that Apple does not make computers that are called MACs, nor do they run a MAC operating system.

[11 March 2010]maybe, but as an IT guy that deals with having to decipher what the hell people mean all the time, when an IT guy sends me an email saying something about some other guy's MAC, i assume it means MAC address.
