So I guess I'm one step closer to being a local Hangzhou person.
I've now got connections in the restaurant business here, such that I can get discounted or free food at a number of places. I went out with my new friends and daisy last weekend to a new sushi place, owned by Hong Kong people. My buddy sold a bunch of kitchen stuff to the owner, so we got the meal for free.
And he just sent me a text message that said anytime I go to eat out, I should contact him first so he can call the kitchen ahead of time.
I'll tell you. Sometimes I wanna go where everybody knows your name. And they're always glad you came. And they give you discounted sushi!

[20 April 2010]I had to put in a lot of time and effort just to be recognized at a couple pubs in a town smaller than Wilmette. It's a lot harder than you think to have somewhere where everyone knows your name!
THE Lowly Peon
[20 April 2010]WJerome: Perhaps that's true, but right now I'm living in a city of over 6 million, and there are four restaurants where everybody knows my name. And that ain't bad!
