a little while ago, refused refused to service a mac mini under warranty that belonged to a heavy smoker. apparently, the insides were completely covered with disgusing resin and grossness. it's gotten a bit of press in the apple fanboy world, with some people criticizing and others defending.
personally, i think apple has every right to refuse this service. how is this any different than spilling beer on your mother board or droprring your iPhone in a pitcher of queen's blonde? (answer: at least the queen's blonde tastes delicious.)
this is fake steve's take on it. for those of you who don't know him, Dan lyon's a while back started a blog using the persona of Steve jobs. it's funny.
worth reading if not just for the picture.

[25 November 2009]Yeah, I don't really get why this is controversial. If you smoke, that's fine. But you gotta deal with the consequences. Just like if you live on a sandy beach, you gotta deal with the fact that wind might blow sand into your computer.

i agree. i really see this as no different than someone who spills something, or even just uses a computer after eating cheetos. no problem if that's you're thing, but it's not something they should need to service.
