Don't even get me started on how ridiculous aviation "security" is. But here's an example of how counterproductive it is. We all know it's just for show. My friend James introduced me to some guy who worked for the FBI around the time of 9/11. He said he had a loaded weapon in the airport, but all of the national guard did not, despite the fact that they were walking around with huge guns. They were all empty. Just for show.
How many trains are searched before going under the loop in Chicago? So why do I need to take off my freaking belt to get on a plane?
Check out this TSA logo contest too. It's funny.
The whole thing makes me angry. The terrorists have already won. A few hundred people died (which sucks, don't get me wrong), but millions of people have wasted millions of hours because of this silly paranoia.
(I should be careful. I'm using airport wifi right now...)

[07 January 2010]WJerome: interesting article, but that website is awful. i think there are 500 ads on the first page alone (and then requires me to click through to a second).
for some reason, i found this quote to be odd:
while i completely agree, for some reason it makes terrorists sound like they're a strange species that we're trying to study from afar. isn't this just logic? what was it that guy said in jurassic park? "nature always finds a way..."
