This NY Times graphic is pretty mind blowing. It shows, graphically, how much money Obama wants to spend and on what. The one that amazes me most is the rather enormous box for "interest on public debt", which is not only 14% up from last year, but it is more than transportation, education, energy, and homeland security combined ($4.74b, or $4173/household). On interest!
Also, he's proposing $1.1trillion for medicare and medicaid. That's a whopping $9,727 per household.
For a guy who's been to the doctor twice in the last several years, that seems like a lot to me.
